Shaping the future of Spatial Storytelling, one creator at a time.

In 2021 OYA Black Arts Coalition and the Canadian Film Centre joined forces to launch Scale Up Immersive in partnership with Dark Slope XR. Thanks to the funding provided by FedDev Ontario, we established a unique accelerator program designed for founders of Black-owned media production companies.

This program was designed for creatives who are eager to venture into the immersive media landscape. Through three years of dedicated programming, we've witnessed remarkable transformations, fulfilling our mission to empower and propel visionary talent into the forefront of immersive storytelling.

We've been fortunate to receive support from a seasoned team of lab mentors who brought their expertise in various domains including storytelling, XR experiences, and virtual production. As a result the program has seen over 12 XR prototypes come to life and has supported 30 Black-owned creative companies, in Ontario, in just three years.

Thank you to our team, staff, mentors, facilitators, guest speakers, and funders. We are so proud of the vibrant network of creatives that we have cultivated within Scale Up Immersive! While the program may be coming to an end, we acknowledge that this marks only the beginning of our remarkable journeys into the immersive world of extended reality.
