Ryan Singh

Guyanese-born filmmaker and actor Ryan Singh's mission is to create diverse, inclusive stories for all audiences. He has worked on shows for NBC, FOX, CBS, Amazon, Apple, Hulu, Disney, Rogers, Bell Media, Planet Africa, FEVA TV as well as notable channels across the Caribbean. His recent appearances include Entertainment Tonight Canada, and Global News.

Ryan's acting credits include The Expanse (Syfy, Amazon Prime Video), Designated Survivor (ABC, Netflix), Kim’s Convenience (CBC, Netflix), and Alexander Payne's DOWNSIZING (Matt Damon).

As a filmmaker, Ryan worked on the Oscar-nominated The Breadwinner, directed by Nora Twomey and executive produced by Angelina Jolie. His current documentary Memento: A South African Artventure and sci-fi short H.E.N.R.I. have been playing at festivals across the world. In collaboration with his non-profit organization, Roots International Arts Theatre, he co-wrote and co-produced H.E.N.R.I. with his twin children, shot it with a crew that was 80% BIPOC and a 50/50 female parity.

He has received funding from Telefilm Canada to develop 2 new projects including Witness by Shyiem Blair and Delivery, a film he is also writing. Recently, Ryan optioned the rights to Deborah Ellis’ new book the Greats.

Ryan is a full member of ACTRA, Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA), and IATSE 873 and 411, as well as Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television and DOC Canada.

In 2020 he participated in the BIPOC Children's TV Writing Boot Camp where he was mentored by several industry professionals from Nelvana, Disney, Netflix, Corus, CBS, NBC and started development on two television series. Ryan has continued to hone his craft working with Daniela Saioni’s Mondo Cinema workshop Writer’s Room for Television and Feature Film Development programs. Ryan was part of Reelworld Film Institute’s Emerging 20 incubator in 2021. Ryan also participated in the Warner Media Access programs. Ryan is a current fellow of Hotdoc/CBC's Breakthrough and Oya's Scale up for Producers.
