Abigail Whitney


Abigail Whitney (she/her) is an award-winning theatre director, an internationally awarded filmmaker, an emerging producer and writer. In 2020 Abigail was listed as “100 Black Artists to support this Juneteenth” by New York’s Gritty Vibes Magazine. Abigail is also on the cover of Ark Magazine's 002 "The Reset" Issue released in 2021, where she's interviewed and featured as a 'Game Changer' an "innovative and fearless force, changing the arts as we know it." She was also featured on CBC’s q, UofT's The Varsity ByBlacks, CBC’s OurToronto, Eboss Canada and Broadway World for her acclaimed works.

Abigail worked as an assistant film director on 4 out of 21 of Obsidian Theatre Company's 21 Black Futures short films airing right now on CBC Gem and was interviewed by UofT's Scarborough Campus' The Underground magazine sharing her gratifying experience.

In 2021, her debut short film Seule that she wrote, produced and directed premiered at Paprika's 2021 Festival and went on to win Best Amateur Film at the 2021 Short To The Point International Short Film Festival and the Best Experimental Film Award at the 2021 Austin Micro Film Festival.

Abigail directed songstress Woodney Pierre's second music video 'Sans Toi' releasing in February 2022.
